Continuing the Legacy of LAP: A4ID to Support and Develop LCS and JLAP Programmes

We are pleased to announce that Advocates for International Development (A4ID) will be taking forward two outstanding initiatives, Legal Confidence Sessions (LCS) and Junior Lawyers Against Poverty (JLAP), following the planned closure of Lawyers Against Poverty (LAP).

LAP has built something truly special. Through LCS and JLAP, it has inspired young lawyers, legal professionals and students, strengthened legal capability, and championed access to justice with energy, creativity and purpose. These programmes have empowered participants with the confidence, skills and values needed to use the law as a force for positive change.

As LAP prepares for an orderly closure, we intend to provide a new home for these initiatives. At A4ID, we are closely aligned with their mission, harnessing the power of the law to tackle inequality and support sustainable development.

We are committed not only to preserving the integrity and impact of LCS and JLAP, but to investing in their growth so they can reach even more people in the years ahead. We pay tribute to the trustees, volunteers, and members of LAP whose dedication has brought these programmes to life over the past 11 years. Your work has made a tangible difference, and we are keen to continue that legacy.

We look forward to welcoming the LCS and JLAP communities into A4ID and to building the next chapter together. The mission continues, and we are enthusiastic about what lies ahead.
