Climate change is creating new legal challenges across Pakistan. As one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, Pakistan is increasingly facing legal questions relating to environmental protection, governance, human rights, and climate accountability.
A4ID is partnering with the Continuing Legal Education Institute in Pakistan and the Pakistan Bar to deliver a virtual training programme to introduces lawyers to the foundations of climate law and explores how climate-related legal arguments can be applied within the Pakistani context.

Participants will explore key international climate agreements, including the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement, and examine how these frameworks influence national legal systems. The programme will also introduce core concepts such as mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and climate accountability.
Climate litigation is growing around the world. This programme examines how lawyers can use public law, human rights arguments, and strategic litigation to address climate-related issues.
Participants will learn how climate-related claims are framed in different jurisdictions and consider their relevance within Pakistan.
Sessions will be led by legal professionals with experience in climate law, environmental litigation, and public international law.
Alongside international developments, discussions will focus on opportunities and challenges within Pakistan’s legal and regulatory landscape.
The training focuses on practical legal tools rather than theory. Each session combines expert presentations with discussion, questions, and practical examples. The programme is designed to help participants build confidence in identifying and addressing climate-related legal issues in their own practice.
