Internships
A4ID provides internships for individuals hoping to gain further experience in the legal and charitable sectors. We offer a variety of positions to suit individuals' skills and experience in communications, fundraising, pro bono and development.
Internships are six months long, and run from January-June and July-December.
All interns assist A4ID’s staff team and are encouraged to attend meetings, contribute ideas and assist in the development of all areas of the charity and its programmes.
There are four different intern roles, each with an individual focus requiring particular skills. Please specify in your application which position you are most interested in and why.
1. Communications Intern
The Communications Intern works to ensure our on and offline communications are engaging and up to date, and to ensure we are communicating in the most effective way with our supporters.
Applicants should demonstrate an interest in communications and multimedia. They should have good computing skills including familiarity in MS Office and the ability to learn new software packages quickly, have excellent written English and be able to demonstrate strong oral communication skills.
Experience of editing video and audio content, using website content management systems, HTML, Dreamweaver, InDesign, as well as writing for print publications or the web are highly desirable.
2. Pro Bono Projects Intern
A4ID’s Pro Bono Projects Intern supports our Projects Officer with A4ID’s broker service which matches requests for legal advice from development organisations with lawyers able to provide assistance for free.
This position involves preparing minutes at meetings with new Legal and Development Partners, drafting documents and letters, maintaining project know-how as well as conducting due diligence on new partners and in relation to new projects.
Applicants should possess excellent organisational and communication skills. Knowledge of law and development is desirable. We particularly welcome applicants with fluent spoken and written French or Spanish. Practical office experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office are essential.
3. Fundraising Intern
This position works alongside our Head of Operations to develop and implement our fundraising strategy. This work involves researching and planning fundraising events, researching potential donors and grants as well as developing new fundraising schemes.
Applicants should possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Some experience in fundraising/event management is essential.
4. Development Awareness Intern
A core part of A4ID’s work is to raise awareness of the inter-relationship between law and development. The Development Awareness Intern helps our Education Co-ordinator to develop A4ID’s development awareness raising events and education programmes. This involves a range of activities including research, event administration, drafting documents and writing articles.
Applicants should have good written and oral communication skills, excellent research skills, administrative experience and a keen interest in international development. A background in event organisation and knowledge of Microsoft Excel are desirable.
